Trailers
With all the talk of people buying boats that need transport the first thing to worry about is the tire age just because they look brand new that is meaningless.
When buying a used trailer of any kind check the DOT stamp it will give you the production date, if the tire is 5 or more years old, get new tires, cheap insurance
20 some years ago my Aunt gave me her 1969 Buick Skylark convertable,( I was 15 and with her the day she picked it up new) tires looked new, on my way home to Florida from Smithtown LI I had two flats one was in heavy traffic after the second flat I went to buy 4 new tires when they found a third had a bubble ready to blow, few months ago I bought a used boat in Jacksonville Fl first thing I did was get two new tires, as soon as I pulled onto 95 south a boater with a flat, not to far down the road another, then a travel trailer ...

Those old tires sure have a great squeal that gets right in the ear when you rug it.
Trailers, check the bearings!

Yes after 10 miles on 95 I pulled into a rest stop put my hand on the buddy bearings COOL ...
When getting the new tires I gave the installer $10.00 and asked to pump grease into the bearings, I forgot my grease gun
By the way if you have need for a bad a$$ grease gun this one is it, all my new electric tools are Milwaukee 18 except the 3/8 rachet device they only come in the 12 model, between the 40 ton crane and big stump grinding machine it was money well spent for me.

Great looking grease gun, looks like they are afraid to tell how much they cost??
Yep, went all the way to Howell, Michigan to pick up my Checkmate MX-14, pulled into Mickey D's later and the hitch came off, the adjusting nut backed off, fixed that with vice grips, much later I barely made it to my sons house, about 25 miles from home and could remove the left trailer wheel without touching the bearings, they were completely gone. Those big fat washers ain't much for load bearing.Last edited by 1954bmw; 05-27-2020 at 11:00 AM. Reason: more lies
