95 Mariner 200 Carb info needed
Looking to buy one and it has a black engine under the grey cowl, guy claims he is the original owner is this common or is do you think its had the powerhead swapped? Any block numbers or anything specific to check on these? Are they 7petal? FF block or no? If I buy it im going to ditch the black boxes, injection and run 50:1 pre mix. Any pointers welcome if I missed asking anything. Looking for a good check list

I'm not 100% sure without serial but kinda looks like 2.5 with that side cover I guess. Never seen one on a 2.4. Get serial behind timin arm or Welch plug
Carbs prob tell alot also. What are they , wmh , wmv , wh ?

I see hodgepodge.....
WH carbs (2.4), ‘91 specific 200 airbox, if they’re 2.5 heads they a WAY early, red flywheel.
my guess... was a 91 200 7 peddle Mariner that blew up and someone put a fat block 2.4 on.

Serial number should be on top, starb side, between head and flywheel on silver disc/plug

don't think heinz.. maybe '89/'90.. that air box showed up in '89.. its all metal with front that that comes off.. most everything after those years and including most during those years had tha 40 amp water cooled stuff... were a few out there with tha 16 mostly 135/150... few 175/200's... '89 up most XR4's had 40's................... jmo.

That’s not the standard 2.5 airbox
it has the two extra inlets at the bottom. 1991 7peddle specific

Any fat block 2.4 will have the square (2.5) pump.

your absolutely right.. his motor is not a fat block or 2.5.. that box came out in '89/90 on some 2.4's.. it came ona '90 XR4 i bought.. only one i ever saw.. all tha 200's had tha "organ pipes" till '91............. so gotta disagree 'bout '91 specific.. was pretty much standard on horizontal 150/175's 2.4's
