JL audio or Fusion radio ?
Hey all, I'm redoing the fishing boat panel and i'm not too up on current audio electronics, looking at the fusion or jl audio for the radio and jl audio speakers. What r your thoughts? I'm not trying to blast like a wake boat but looking for nice sound system , Thanks for any advise....Dave

both are good ,,,,,
jl amps and speakers are very high quality for sound and clarity
pricey ,,,yes,,,,
if using a nema 2000 capable gps/chartplotter
I prefer the fusion black box 300r
its nema 2000 to link to gps for big screen adjustment,,,Bluetooth and wifi
comes with a digital screen remote to mount on dash for fast adjustments
really like the hidden head system
mixed with jl amps,,,has very high quality output
can use average speakers ande have great sound if don't want to break bank with jl speakers
the jl 770and 8s are pricey but great sound
im doing a boat now with the fusion 300r,,,jl 1000/5 amp and going to try the infinity 822mlt 8" speakers
to see if like sound
the 822s are less than 200 pr pair and are led also
vrsing 550 for the jl 8s

I have a newer fusion and no amps which is more than meets our needs. I think it's silly to have 3 gigawatt systems!

what is nice is we get to choose what we like
system im installing now is 4 -8" mains and 1 -10" sub
with quality equiptment I want clarity over full loudness
boat this system is going in will be cruising 75-100 across bays for many miles
and want to hear clear music while cruising for hrs
each to their own preference
agree don't need 3+ amps and 10+ speakers to have qualityLast edited by johnmiffco; 05-24-2020 at 02:35 PM.

The BB-300 will nmea to my gps per the online inst book, will it be ok w/o an amp ? if it must have an amp i might as well go with a cheaper unit that requires an amp? got the jl 6.5 speakers x 4 on the way anything larger will not lay flat .

the bb300 is 50wx4 built in
so will drive the smaller 6.5s
im using its multi zones control to have adjustments in the subwoofer and front and rear
the bb100 is lots less and still has 50x4
less zone functions and adjustments smaller remote with no lcd screen
still nema 2000
almost 1/2 priced of the 300 and still have the hidden head unit
the ra70nsx is a nice head unit with same 50x4 power
and still nema but is a dash head unit

I ordered the Fusion upgrade on our new Key West and got the RA70NSX head unit with 4 of the 7.7” XS series speakers and for the modest cost of the upgrade from their base JBL system I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The head unit matches the JL head unit in performance but it’s interface is a bit “old school”. If I were to do it again I’d ask them to do the RA210 head unit and their new SG series speakers but I doubt it would be that much better sound than what I got. I tied it into the NMEA 2000 network and love being able to control it on my GO9 MFD.
IMHO you can’t go wrong with Fusion Audio. Don’t get me wrong, JL makes great stuff but they are very proud of it. Fusion is top shelf with a good bang for the buck.Mark
