Do not have pictures, but my mom had a 98 Taurus with the 24 valve v6. Bought it new, and one cold winter morning it would not start. 212,000 miles and it was original plugs and wires. Still ran good, but with a cold snap it would not start. Get the car started and into my shop, change plugs and wires. 2 of the 6 did not even have an electrode left and the other 4 the gap was so big, I was surprised it even ran. Not only did it run though, it ran fine. Idled smooth, no noticeable loss of power. How far car technology has come in recent years. I remember changing plugs, wires, cap and rotors on a regular basis or good luck making in through the winter.

modern cars with modern spark plug mileage blows my mind!I do hear it is hard on Cats when plug gaps get that wide...also smog tests her in Calif can be tough to pass, then they wont renew you registration sticker..

That was the weird thing about it, the car ran fine. It was not subject to smog testing but it was not running rich, nor did it idle or run rough. I drove it every now and again and if it were even questionable, I would have changed parts. When it would not start, I changed all of the regular maintenance parts as well her mechanic. She had been using the same mechanic since she got the car. He went back through his records and there was only oil and common filter changes. While he did a good job at oil changes, he really missed the ball on other scheduled maintenance. I am surprised I was able to get all the old plugs out, but I did.

Also worth noting, she was using the car for a rural postal carrier rig. Not exactly a light duty vehicle.

EGR issues will eat plugs very quickly too if your getting any codes for the EGR you may want to pull it and decarb the valve or put a new one on.

motor goes boom. wrist pin pulls out of melted piston and travels through the exhaust and gets lodged in the gear case.

had a spark plug break in half one time, I knew the powerhead had blown. I pull the head and the piston had stuck to the cylinder head and fused to the spark plug.

Tried 10 times and won’t load for some reason.

Half of attempts it shows loading then disappears, other half it vanishes so as I hit the upload button.

Looks like Greg has some new features to it so who knows.
