A reverse image search comes up with this link. I thought there was a better article explaining the engines, but maybe I'm misremembering.

I am still smitten with the 1957 Mark75 look - does anyone know for sure I cannot take the cowlings from that and use on a mid 80's 115 inline 6?

I found a 1958 Mark78 complete engine and am picking it up on Monday. I guess I will find out soon enough if the cowlings will fit once I buy a 115 85-88 motor. I will have the remaining complete engine with propeller to sell once I take the top cowl, front cowl and wrap cowl off.

I got the 1958 Mark78 home today. I have since learned the wrap cowling will be too short and it had dents anyway. I will take the front plate and top cover off and try to mount to a later model 115 even if I have to make some sort of brackets. I plan on leaving the newer model lower cowling on the motor and using the older model upper and front covers. I understand the front cover will be too short so I have to get creative to cover the lower gap it will leave. I will be sand blasting and painting the 1958 parts and am looking for a proper sized wrap around that I can clean and chrome plate. From what I can understand I will need a 99.9 CID wraparound with NO dents/dings/bends - (fade, bad stickers etc... is fine since I will be stripping it). I am now actively looking for a super clean, low hour, fresh water used 20" 115HP inline 6 Mercury 1985-88 that I can get to work on. Anybody???

I am still looking for a mid 80's 115 straight six in excellent condition if anybody knows of one. I am also looking for the measurements for the later model inline 6 cowlings. My 1958 wrap around cowl measures 13 1/4" tall and 46" around (edge of cowling to edge of cowling NOT including the hooks) or about 50" around when installed with the hooks. Can anyone help? Thanks

I was given these measurements for the mid 1980's 115 wrap - 14-7/8" H & 54-3/4" L. This means I will not be able to use the top panel from the 1958 motor it seems. I am now hoping to use the front panel and another top panel from a motor that has the front handle part. Any ideas?
