    Mounting Garmin GT51M-TM on a stepped transom side vu,down vu, chirp

    Mounting transducer on a 21 Action Marine Center Console. Trying to find the best place to mount. Seen a few pics of mounting on the step. Pic attached for reference. Click image for larger version.

    Id go at the blue tape. It will read at all but real high speed. (Asumimg you get on the pad and lift it out the water) They say don't put it that close to a chine but it will be good. I install a few a month.

    And get the spray shield. These long ass transducers throw an insane amount of spray

    Thanks. I was scared of the dreaded chine. But looked like a perfect place. Do you believe in the 1/8 below hull rule?

    What about a through hull transducer? Or are those limited for options?
