Sportmaster L/U experts please chime in
I have a 2008 Sportmaster that has performed flawlessly. Late last year I found a little water in it and had it resealed. Local Merc dealer with good rep did the work.
5 hours later I have a little water in it. I pull it, go back, he pressure tests it, finds no problem, fills it with fluid and I go again.
3 hours later I have a little water in it. I drain and flush it by cycling a full gearcase of gear oil through and letting it drain. I refill and 2 hours later I have a little water in it. Not much but any is not good. I did fill it and drain out about 2 ounces.
I'm not sure what to do other than hauling it to the dealer again. Is there a place to start looking first? I did find a thread about a seal carrier Merc # 840836A2 on one of the bass forums, where someone thought it solved a similar problem.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Is it a 2.5 or 3 liter ? If it’s a 3 liter I would install the Arizona speed and machine kit . It allows for expansion of hot gear oil and not allowing water to come in after a hard run . Hf...

Hydro tec offers it also . You get a three seal , aluminum drive shaft carrier , a two seal shift shaft carrier , tubing and an expansion tank that goes under the cowling . 200.00 we’ve done several and well worth the money .

I guess it would be explained in the kit but how do you connect the vent hose(s) to the lower?

The vent kit includes a shift shaft seal housing that has a quick connect fitting for the vent tube. The tube is routed up through the mid/steering tube to the power head. It takes an extra set of hands connect the tube every time the gear case is dropped for maintenance.
The upgraded drive shaft seal and vent kit with the shift shaft seal was the only way I finally fixed my Sportmaster leaks. I also use the Merc HP gear case oil which is suppose to protect the lower incase of water intrusion.

I ordered a shift shaft seal and a drive shaft seal kit from MADEFI. He recommended against the vent kit. I think he said he's quit selling it. Kit installs easily in under an hour. Going to run it later this week to see if it solved the problem.

Speaking of Mercury gear case oil... is the Quicksilver 90 weight High Performance gear oil (silver bottle) assumed to be the same as the Mercury 90 weight HP (black bottle)? Not talking about the "premium 80w90" products.
