Why is Silver Glenn Run still barracaded?

After the Governor's announcement that the Parks would open today, we went to Silver Glenn expecting to find the floating barricade to be gone , which it was not. Anyone have any information?

From what I’ve heard they’re trying to keep it closed from boats forever, there was a petition floating around to try and keep it open , but the state is prob gonna do what ever they want I’d imagine, but I hope not, how about salt springs is that barricaded off too ?

that's just not right. what harm did it cause anybody or anything for it to be the way it was except for people that did not have a boat and were envious of people able to enjoy something they couldn't

I look at it this way, guys. down here in South Florida the big problem was huge crowds at the sandbars. So instead of breaking up the partyers they shut down the ramps and the marinas so those of us who would just do some solitary cruising or fishing (what better way to socialy isolate?) were screwed. I would rather see them patrol the sandbars and break up the crowds than shut down the ramps again. Only been to Silver Glenn once, but it was a whole lot like a South Florida sandbar. I don't know anything about long term plans to shut it down, but I could see it barricaded for a while to keep the crowd from forming.

Yeah, that was the feeling I got when I went to the store a few weeks back and seen all the empty shelves.

The WI supreme court rescinded the stay at home orders late this afternoon. So far Brown County (Green Bay) and Dane County (Madison) executives have issued their own orders that we must remain grounded. City of Milwaukee is working on their orders now, and I bet the governor is working on new orders that will pass state law as I write this.

No matter what, they just want to keep you at home. Small businesses shut down. There has been nothing but notices of local events being cancelled. Events that have taken place for decades, cancelled, just like that. This is insane.

They tried everything else, It's the only thing the left has to even stand a chance of beating POTUS Trump.
Personally I think it's going to backfire on them .. again …
Nor do I see Ron DeSantis ever closing parks or waterways to public use.

ID:	465584 there during my two hour stop...thought that might never happen again. Swimming in the spring was kind of eerie with zero activity around.

Me either, but most of the Federal Gov. is Liberal left leaning employee's. They figure the longer they can drag this out the worse it looks for the President.
You can see the political "flavor" of an area by the way they handle things and in SWFL I was shocked that Naples closed their beaches after opening them. Reason given was people not social distancing, but an op-ed piece in a local paper pointed out that the Local gov. saw too many cars from Broward and Dade counties and were afraid that they would spread Corona virus in Naples.

That is Salt Springs in the pictures above. I don't think they are going to close it down due to the fact that it has the campground and boat ramp that support it financially. Tree huggers still like to have revenue they just don't like to admit it.

The forestry service is the ones that put the rope in place but when you go to there site it is only closed to the north edge of the water.I was there 2 days ago a Jet Ski went in while I was stopped by a county sheriff boat in the lake he did not do anything told me there was no ordnance that he was aware of . Told me that FWC may can do something but not him. And it wont hurt to call State and Federal officials.I will try and post the closure map . And yes they are trying to close it permanently.

Contact Kelly Russell. She's in charge of the forest closures. Read the order in the link above.

    Here is her appointment notification:

    https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/r8/news-events/?cid=STELPRD3833487

Finding a phone number for her office eludes me. Anyone better at this than me?

That link is how I nfound the map .The Glen has no public ramp and they only own the land on 1 side . The Juniper Club owns more of the land than the Govt.and they are almost closed in the summer they would not let this fly when they are using the club .
