Get the non Pro 2.4 helm with vented cap like mentioned above. Be careful using the non vented cap in that system you have now!

Lots of great info here. My question may sound dumb but will a drag trim cylinder work in the side steer Possition? I just thought that since I have an extra one I would ask.

You should not use a pro helm with an unbalanced ram. As stated get a non pro and use a vented cap.

Just like to add, even though the 2.4 non pro helm will work there was a reason why the Capillano was developed. Especially for a high torque application....JMPO

Thanks Everyone, i went with a Non pro helm. and it works.

also for anyone considering, i talked to the manufacturer and Seastar offers a Splashwell and transom mounted unbalanced cylinder that they pair with the Non pro helm so they were very informative also with this application.

one thing they stressed was when you finished bleeding make sure the cylinder is in the retracted position, so that the helm was at its maximum fluid level and the cylinder was at its minimum. otherwise it would overflow through the vent.

The longer 11” rams drain the helm and suck air when fully extended without a reservoir.

I'm using a 9" ram with the Capillano helm and the fluid level difference between hard left and hard right is minimal on the dipstick. Still within range.
The Capillano has a large reservoir and I'm betting will work with an 11" unbalanced also.

Isn't the drag ram the little short one? I don't think it would have the length to get the job done.

that said, put it in a box and send it to fort worth.

The reservoir on the Capillano is the case itself. No external reservoir. Just a tube sticking out of the top with a vented cap and a dipstick attached to the cap.

    Question:
What is the most noticeable difference to those who have replaced or driven a seastar front mount cylinder (without power assist) to a single side ram cylinder (non power assist) ** Single engine applications only **
