Definitely a stabilizer as opposed to generating any specific lift or downforce. The wing moves the aerodynamic center of pressure rearward increasing pitch stability. Because the wing section is symmetrical, it will generate a force in either direction depending on which way it's angled relative to the oncoming air, like a horizontal rudder. So if the nose comes up a bit, the wing generates a little lift to raise the rear, if the nose pitches down a bit the wing make a little downforce to settle the rear.

Ken's boat had a similar set up. I think they said on the facetube site that this one is of the same proportions as the old boat.

Looks a bit thinner than the 0012, maybe a 0008 or a NACA 6 series airfoil...

Sorry, my aero-geek took over for a minute, there...

That sounds exactly as my memory serves of my last conversation w/Ken on that subject.

I remember the shock to my brain of, difference in thrust of propeller in water, at water level,Vs jet thrust at an elevated height.
He talked about, and understood those effects.

Remember too, this is a true bad ass, mad scientist w/no schooling on the subject and willing to risk his life on what he thinks he knows.

I remember in his bar in his basement, we talked about every failed attempt at breaking his record and he told me, exactly, what they did wrong.
I had no argument for anything he said.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Was smart enough to know it was a once in a life time gig.

I got to know Ken fairly well while he was as supporting my “Rumble on a the River” gig.
I then learned that he did that for many hot rod/race boat gatherings, all over the country, that he thought his background/support may get help.

He is a once in a life time meet.

Ugh..as a punk ass sitting down to dinner at one of the Rumbles with Ken and a bunch of people from this site was one of the highlights of life. The man is a f**king hoot as most all of Aussies are.

Yep, He even ventured down to one of our By-U-Boyz events here in Shreveport. Had a blast. He brought his wife and one of his friends from Australia.

At the very first Rumble, before it was in Carrollton, Ken and Barbara were there too.

One of my buddies who is also a huge fan, gave Ken and Barbara a ride back to their hotel, sitting on the tailgate of his truck.
He was so excited to tell me about it.
Youd have thought he met Mick Jagger!

    My favorite Ken story:

(sorry for those that have heard it 20 times)

My buddy Tony Wilson (speed racer on here) lived in Carrollton (where we held the Rumble) and knew everyone there that could help support the Rumble.

Tony told me the city had a tourism dpt that awarded grants to activities supporting their town.
The board members had private, monthly meetings to vote on these requests.
They didn’t allow the petitioners to attend the meetings.

I put together a power point presentation for them and sent it down w/a hard copy for each member.

Tony said they typically approve 50% of the request so request accordingly.

The day before their meeting, Tony calls to say they asked if I could attend their meeting! (4 hrs from me)
He went on to say, the part in our presentation about Ken attending the Rumble got their attention and asked if I could bring more info about Ken.

Me being me, I called Ken asked what he was doing tomorrow
Ken being Ken, said, in his Aussie slang, “Gator, pick me up on your way down”.
They wanted more info? I brought the man!
(And was proud of myself for thinking of it)

So I hit Ken’s house the next morning and his race truck is in the driveway.
A giant, white Ford one ton duality w/a cap on it that says, in giant letters, “Ken Warby, worlds fastest man on water”.

He comes out to my waiting economy car and he motions to the truck.
I tell him, my car gets way better mileage than your truck + we’ll burn my gas.

Again, Ken being Ken, “He points to the letters on the cap and says, “No Gator, we’ll take the truck”!

So we get to the tourism office early, on porpoise and Ken parks his huge truck right in front of the office!
The board members had to walk around his truck to get to the meeting!

The meeting starts, I introduce Ken and pass around all magazine articles I had about him.
They then ask me to start my presentation as they eat lunch.
First time they ever allowed this at a meeting!

I had studied my presentation, had a sales background and was confident in my delivery.
About 30 seconds in, the board president says, “Mr Williams, we’ve heard enough. You can sit down”.
    I was stunned!
Had no clue what I did wrong?

The president then instructs the group to go ahead and vote on our request.
Still in shock, I waited for the vote.

They voted unanimously in support of our request annnnddd gave us the full amount!
    (Thx to Tony’s tip)

The Instigator got a lesson on showmanship from the Worlds Fastest Man On Water!
    Still makes me laugh.

    Love that guy.
