This one compression is 94-96psi. No bubble back on this one... So maybe the 60 would be the good choice.
Man I'd hate to lean this thing out to far and wreck a nice 40 over Wiseco!

What's the difference in a 64C vs a 64D anyway?
Could I throw the 1 3/8 carbs on with the 64c and get away with it? LOL
To bad I didn't know what I know now... last weekend I sealed up the case halves... I could have put my bubble back on it...

The C goes in metal carbs the D goes in plastic carb so I meant C Ha fixed it

oh I totally understand that! I was an Auto/Diesel tech for 20 years and 3 years ago I destroyed my shoulder at work. The amount of stuff I've forgotten is scary.
So I should think this is rebuilt as a 185, and maybe go 61C? Split the difference and go 62C?
Its SO close... it just doesn't like that 2800-3000RPM area, like it's WAY to much fuel, once it's past it.. man it has power! (I had it trimmed wrong and it started porpoising on me, and I slammed on the throttle before it got trimmed down and I stood the whole boat out of the water for a second! Man that hurt the ole back when it landed!)

Have you done a compression and leak down test. I have a 2,6 that broke a ring, just a 1/2 inch piece and it stumbled at 2000-3000 rpm,it dosen't take much. It compression tested good too, till I bore scoped it is when I found it

I borescoped it. All cylinders look good. Compression is 94-96 stone cold across the board.
I don't have a compressor at home to do a leakdown test.
That's how I know it has Wesico pistons in it

I wouldn't have installed them myself, but I got this motor that way.
It looks like a fresh rebuild by the borescope.

So... since I'm short on air compared to fuel.... Would it be worth it to try the 1 3/8 carbs with the same 64C jets since I have them?
The bubble back isn't installed.. so it wouldn't be able to get the exhaust out as well... but would it get me headed in the right direction? I'm not opposed to putting the bubble back and adapter on this one if it's required... but with the smaller 3.5 bore vs the 3.625 is it worth putting the bigger carbs OR the bubble back on...
Ugh.. the options... I wish I could find the jets I want locally...
Tomorrow is fishing opener here in MN so the 3 boat shops I've called are all going to voicemail and haven't called back. I'm guessing they heard my message and started laughing and will call me back on Monday.. lol
