""The hornets were horrifying," she told Xinhua, the Chinese state-run news agency. "They hit right at my head and covered my legs. All of a sudden, I was stung, and I couldn't move.
"Even now, my legs are covered with sting holes."
Two months, 13 dialysis treatments and 200 stitches later, Mu still remains hospitalized and unable to move her legs."

I heard about these things a couple of years ago. As I remember it the orange faced ones are from Japan. The Chinese ones are all brown. I wonder if they ended up in Washington State riding on wreckage from the tsunami that hit Japan a few years back. I know that stuff has been washing up on the west coast for years now from the tsunami. Whatever the origin these things are absolute nightmares. Can you imagine hitting one of these when riding a motorcycle? Gives new meaning to bugs in the teeth.

I saw something about them on TV last night, the guy who got stung said it was intense pain for 6 hours. I tuned in a little late but it looked like the guy let the thing sting him to experience it....nuts.

Anyone from Pa. want to chime in on those Spotted Lanternflies... Native to CHINA, Vietnam and Bangladesh. They don't sting but they are all over the place.

Not that I know for certain what that hornets intent was but traditionally they only kill to protect the nest, themselves or to feed.
There is a certain breed of wasp that goes after tarantulas, injecting it only with enough venom to paralyze it and then it drags it back to the nest where the larvae feed off of it. Talk about a way to go. Eaten alive while paralyzed with venom. Nature can be so cruel.

Ever seen a cicada killer??? They look terrifying, but won't bother anything but cicadas. ??? Worked as a mechanic years ago, and went to this guys house to get his car started.
Horeeefuq, they had a nest under the back steps of his house. It was like an international airport, they were everywhere! I mentioned something to him, and he said, "Oh they won't bother you." and went to the back steps. They were flying all around him.... I was like- FUQ THAT!!!
