    250 EFI Cutting off

I have a 2003 (?) 250 EFI (not Optimax). When running the other day is simply cut off while idling around the docks like turning off the key. Started right back up. Never did that before, so I thought simply a fluke. Couple of days later sitting at the dock idling and it cut off again. Turned the key, nothing. Sat for a moment and started back up.
I am not very familiar with the 3L engines, but my 2.4s had a fuse that would shut off the electricals. Is there a circuit breaker that does this on 3L EFIs? Any other thoughts?
    Thanks.

There is a fuse on mine under the cowl, blade style, 20 amp i think, where the harness connects. Possibly a ignition switch issue?? Or maybe a faulty kill switch? Just guessing, maybe youve already tried that

It most likely is not a fuse, you would have had to replace it to restart motor. A lean spit or cough could have killed it. If it happens again, listen for a pop sound. The other most likely scenario is, an electrical issue. It may never happen again, but if it does. With motor running, idling around, start wiggling all wires. start under dash, then start pushing and pulling on boat harness. If that does nothing, remove motor hood, and wiggle all wires on motor. You are trying to isolate problem either to the boat or the motor. Once you figure that out, then trouble shoot that area. Also always, always, wiggle kill switch. They can get touchy, when getting older.

It died like cutting off the switch. I just went down to start the boat and nothing no tram no nothing. I cycled the Perko battery switch and everything worked. However, cutting the switch off does not kill the engine, as the engine is making its own voltage at that point.

Possibly a key switch losing twelve volts on the purple wire and momentarily killing the ecu . What spark plugs are you running ? Should only have QL77CC champions in it .hf...

Check the fuse holders on the motor, especially if it is used in saltwater.
