Simon. Mine went to Simon with good results, good friend sent his to Whipple and ended up having to get a refund and sending them to Simon. Just my opinion and experience.

There is nothing on the veradoos and probably the v6-v8 that can't be run on a stand alone tunable. The wiring harnesses just have to be made. The new motors run well enough on 87 but you know..people.

That's a 300+ hp outboard with a warranty on 87 octane and it is not a total cow when it come to weight....as funking ugly as they may be.

I wonder why they care so much? Flash it, void your warranty, break parts, all seem like wins in the eyes of Yamaha and Merc to me. Maybe they are trying to prevent people from taking 225hp motors and boosting them to 300 so that the customer is more likely to buy the 300? I don't know....

Mostly cause there’s tired people breaking stuff and expect it be covered under warranty........ It’s hard enough getting Merc to cover stuff these days from defects in materials

It doesn't matter, much like the tuner car market there will always be alternatives. The barf that all this 4 stoke shiz is cutting edge is disposed f1 technology from the mid 90's with elevated management.

I worked at Yamaha Miami in 1974 . The TX-500 came out the year before , every single one of them needed the cases split and have the chains + guides replaced under wty .
Dual overhead cams , 4 valve , balance shaft .. ten miles of chain whirring inside ..
When they didn't sell .. they were said to be ahead of their time .. The translation to that is a RD-350 could run off and hide from one of them POS's ..

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_TX500

The mighty V-8 aint much different .. good thing for them is they are big inch ..

    I am so hurt , that the 400 hp , 300R with only a flash~er~ooo .. wont happen ..

There is / was a law suit in litigation . Shotgun deal , and they went where the money is Mercury Marine … And because someone crash's a boat , it had to be Merc's fault that the PCM was flashed .. or flash-able …
Must have finally come to a settlement .. $$$$$$$$$$
Merc was bizzed @ Whipple anyway .. they did a bunch of work for them and then came out with a "piggyback" box right after the contract was up …
The roving tech czars use to have different dongles to flash PCM units with their laptops. Now they have to log into Mototune and let them , diagnose , flash , reassign drivers , authorize replacement etc. from Michigan .

Those new FuelTech ECU's that Monty uses that are built into the dash screen are pretty slick unit's for the money …

Mega squirt stand alone is cheap and easy for any four stroke. I’ve seen a few guys adapt LS1 computers to small blocks and big blocks for an engine controller. It’s not all that hard to fan stuff like this up it depends how fancy you want to get. I have no idea what all sensor feeds these new four stroke ob’s are running but there’s a ton of go fast race cars on a map sensor with a tps and that’s about it

Someone else will come out and flash the PCMs, its been proven that it can be done, and someone else will do it. It will just take time.

There is a boost controller and timing curves on the veradoo to deal with. The new platform has a couple other hoops to jump through but nothing show stopping.

I am surprised no one has showed up a loto with a cooler full of intercooler water and tried to push the head off a verado on methanol yet.
