The Tuff is not a low dead rise hull, unless you think the original Challenger was a shallow V

its all opinion,,,,
my opinion is all the old low profile ski/speed boats of the 80s into 90s,,,,
is what the tuff is modernized and redifined,,,,which is a very nice boat,,,no put downs,,, runs a really nice attitude and puts down great #s
version of challenger,,,add in all the old bahas, checkmates, ect of the 18-25' range low pro ski/speed hulls built then
straight bottoms some padded some not 20/21 deadrice and wide 7.6-8.6 widths,,,,short gunnels,,,,so sit downs with no birth,,,
why ,,,,short gunnels and 20/21dead has no height for a front birth,,,,,
in same size offshore style boat hull,,,24 deg dead and 6.6-8 widths taller gunnels,,,had bolsters to sit high enough to see
say 27 excalubur that activator copied,,superboat,,pantera,progression,ect,,,,,24 deg 6.6-7 wide terrible in calm water,,,,fast in rough,,,,
tuff is a dam nice boat but not to me a fun boat all day long in the rough,,,,
would have a blast in good river and chop 2' and less
as stated all in what people want
as we all have our opinions,,,,
just as thread going from showing the 29 outerlimits with o/bs
which would be a dam nice offshore style boat
comparing to a calmer water padded speed hull of tuff
both good boat but again 2 different hull set ups
and right now outerlimits still is holding the kilo run record for a vee bottom
mitli stepped no pad 44' boat at 180 mph,,,,production boat out of the molds
and still used today as a pleasure boatLast edited by johnmiffco; 04-27-2020 at 07:33 PM.

A lot of poor information here, CNN reporting
firstly the Tuff has a 22.5 degree deadrise
secondly anyone who runs rough water does so with the boat flat and the nose of the boat breaking the waves, velocity fountain etc have pads and run very well in rough water.
thirdly, will smiths very good running Phantom 30 is lower profile than the Tuff 28 it would compete against.
Fourth, the profile of the boat has absolutely zero to do with the boats rough water ability, you don’t drive the boat sideways through the water, it is all the running surface, see above and the ultra low profile Phantom. Or arguable the greatest offshore wave crusher was the Apache Heritage, which was also cut down low profile.
And Lastly, the assumption that the Tuff is a calm water boat because most of the photos are calm water strung out... well that’s the market. It is head and shoulders faster than anything in its class.2023 TUFF 25

yesser abc all correct,,,,,
1 I never anytime said 1 bad thing about the tuff,,,,0
2 compaired the tuff to the other low profile speed boats of the past as from its design and congradulated on its ride and speed,,,
just as u just compaired to the other cut down low profile boats
and yes that's the tuffs market as u said,,,,calm water strung out
toss a capsule on the new 34 and go v light racing and get into that market with will
opinions are opinions on speed and offshore ,,,,,
the thread is the 29 outerlimits then got compared to speed of the tuff
still opinion is 2 different hull designs and whats wrong with that
the 29 outerlimits has proven its handling in offshore racing
just as the tuff has proven it is very fastLast edited by johnmiffco; 04-28-2020 at 06:47 PM.

,
we can add this to the list of low profile cut down boats
I too would be a proud owner of TUFF and Nitra Boats (imported from Sweden)
Nitra Boats 22 --> Nitra Boats

The Outerlimits…….or the Fountain Kilo Boats are hardly production boats out of the molds. They are one off hand laid, lightened and stiffened hulls built for the purpose of running the Kilo. The Outerlimits Kilo boat may have been laid up in the 44 SL mold, but its nothing like a pleasure boat.

Hi,
The OL29 has been one of my favourites for a long time. Stunning boat -- but expensive .... If I remember right it ran approx 100 mph with a single 600 Sci I/O.
Tuff 24 and Tuff 28 are also on my shortlist. Amazingly fast and I am sure running well offshore too. If I had the money I would buy a Tuff 28 with a single Merc 860 and No 6 drive. Oioi !
However, https://www.chaudronpowerboats.com/sv-27 is a great contender as well. 91 mph with a single 400R. Chaudron boats are very much like Phantoms from UK. Legendary offshore race boats. I have one my self; a Phantom 25 w/400R from 1984

Hi!
Anyone know how much OL want for a SV29 without engines?
Interesting to compare with fx Chaudron SV27, Tuff 28, etc.
