04-26-2020, 08:55 AM #50I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

When you beach the boat you can play shuffleboard on the deck.

I don’t get the advantage of a sharp V and a bunch of steps vs a pad V bottom. It’s hard to visualize less wetted area than the 28 at 125 mph

.
one of the winningest hulls in history
because the SV29 won so many race, they were forced to add weights into the boat to "level the playing field"
did the same for Pirate Super Stock Class, not add weights but the Pirate was told to do other things...Shadow Pirate

Very successful race boat, but it didn't win without some very talented folks under the hatch. Doc Jansen and Brian Forehand were a very competitive force.

2 completely purpose built hulls,,,,,
tuff low deadrise with pad,,,,speed and smaller snotty water (low profile speed boat)
outerlimits deep vee deadrise with no pad cuts through the rough water and upon reentering the water softer landing with no pad ( offshore boat)
padded boat in offshore race conditions beats u up,,,,,,,
2 different boats
just as the new 34 tuff up against a 34 phantom,,,,calm water tuff should be faster,,,rough water phantom more sustainable higher speed and more stable and safer
all in what boating u do and if speed only matters get the padded boat
if use in bigger water conditions narrow deep vee better rideLast edited by johnmiffco; 04-27-2020 at 03:10 PM.
