They might have been around just not so much in the 30 and up group, the big 4 strokes have changed many applications, the noise alone put many off.

So what does the pad area look like?

    Holy hell!

    I had not seen that.

How much fun would that thing be, cruising up beside unsuspecting 28 Skaters?
Being a vee bottom guy......., I might pay too see that.

From what little I know of the Tuffs, they may be the fastest vee’s per power and size that there is???
Seems like they just get faster and faster.

    Rob, didn’t they run a 28 w/a 700 something, V-10 Ilmor??

yes 525 merc, 725 illmor. Etc. You tube has lots of video. The boat that ran 137 was full interior lake boat.
Wait till you see the 34 run it will be even faster.
Gator, you know Blake, his Tuff24 with a 300xs runs 116 and is still being setup.

    And I love them.

This and the Tuff are race/poker run boats.

Remember, I think the 28 Tuff w/twin 300 Xs’s ran 118 at Loto this yr.
I think 2 MPH faster than s 28’ Skater there w/the same power.
    130 w/twin 350 Rs ???

I love the 29 OL but it’ll take some smoke to get around a 28 Tuff w/similar power.

I think the two are actually quite similar.
I think the Tuff was also drawn up on a clean sheet w/an open check book.
Many yrs later, most are still way impressed and haven’t heard anything but positive.
Gary, I think we need to keep an eye on the "New" Checkmate. They're talking about running a race boat again. If they use the 28' Convincor hull cut down into a sit down boat, add a bustle (and possibly some small vented steps) they could jump into competition with the Tuff 28 and Outerlimits 29...I think they have the knowledge and ability to get it done!!

Green mold is the 28, black mold is the 24. Decent sized pads on these hulls.

Very sexy boats, pad looks like at least 12 inches wide

In that last picture it looks like gel coat do they build the bottom first, I understand working with infusion it would seam to simplify things vs shooting the whole hull at once, he has carved out his own niche.

Watching the offshore racing on the west coast of Florida this year they had some tough conditions slowing them way down and getting airborne with ease, the need to go fast in ruff conditions is not my dream, I like calmer water for sure.

With the infusion, gel then csm mat skin hand rolled, then the structural laminate for the infusion process.
These pictures really don’t capture what is going on with the pad.

Even Yellowfin fishing boats have keel pads, they are not flat but they work well.
