1983 shadow 21' build up
picked up a 83' shadow from another member on here. boats in great shape for its age but I picked up a 250xs for it. but had a soft floor and transom was shot. so boat is at a local reputable fiberglass shop getting new floor, stringers, transom dash etc and then paint. having a new tank made as well. will post as I progress. picked up a side ram steering setup as well. will be running a 12' jack plate. heres some pics so far of the progress. boat had a lot of gelcoat issues so im having it painted. new interior as well. I will be doing all the rigging. going with a simrad display for gauges. will be having the plash well deleted as well.

Are you gonna limit the ability to tilt your engine up with no well?

got some more updates. transoms in, total of 3" thick(ply). back deck is glassed on. wanted to do a hatch but the additional cost was out of reach. im already spending quite a bit on this resto so gotta cut costs somewhere. maybe ill put a sunpad on. ill proabably maken access from behind the bench seat. the guys at D&S marine in Rockford are doing a amazing job. very nice guys and update me often. Tank and floor will go in this week then its paint prep. picking up jack plate from powder coat today and sending my injectors to brucato to be rebuilt. anyone have anymore pics of shadows?

Way cool project.
Love that size and style of boat.
Timeless lines and an absolute blast to drive.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Gotta love the balsa core stringers! Floor and transom were balsa also, all rotted. Core is good luckily.

Few pics of stringer system. All new transom, knee boards, stringers, bulkheads and tank. Built same as factory design but much stronger and more waterproof. No balsa used other than deck. Boat should be getting paint next week!
