What he is getting at is there may be something wrong with the motor.
The method of propping I was suggesting uses the CDS G3 Diagnostic system to prop the boat. You monitor the actual engine demand and prop accordingly.
Why would you continue to throw props and warranty voiding modifications at this motor, when you don't fully know if everything is operating as it should?

The merc v8 is not a 90 degree engine like a chev or ford etc. These engines are balanced differently to eliminate vibration due to the different crank pin arrangement and the flywheel mass is part of the balance. DO NOT LIGHTEN

I have sold just one 225 pro xs v8. It produces its 225 horses but not much more. We found the best top end was by propping in the 5000 to 5500rpm range.Best holeshot was by propping to 6100. The reason for using the diagnostics to prop with is because the engine does not have a rev limiter like we were used to with the older engines. When you arrive at the rev limiter it just will not rev any harder, it does not miss or give any alarms, so merc say you need to prop with the g3 diagnostics. But.... If you have a good selection of props to try then just prop to 6000-6100 for holeshot or 5000-5500 for top end. The 250 and 300s need the g3 diagnostics more so because they make their peak power nearer max rpm. Hope this helps, Popey
