Question for the paint and body people
Is the black finish on replacement body parts a paint or primer? If it's paint how good is it, meaning how long can I go before refinishing it with quality paint so it doesn't start rusting?

Stuff I've gotten its a primer.. Bought tailgate awhile ago for a black truck so I never painted it but I sold it a year later so can't say.. but I won't wait to long before painting it..

All it is for is to seal off the moisture temporarily. It won't rust right off the bat, but it will eventually. I prime with epoxy inside and out if I can. You need to cut it in anyway.
