    Temperature of a 115 merc 4 cyl 2 stroke

Hey, just installed a temp sender on my engine. But the needle doesnt come up. Its properly connected, makes contact with the ground etc. Tested it with hot water before installation.
By gauge starts at 40 degrees. The sensor is installed on the top cylinder. How hot should the cooling water be at this point? I would say it should be hotter then 40 degrees celcius?

On those motors, there should have been a bi-metal piece, that came with temp. sender kit. It is a little silver looking piece about 1/2 inch in diameter. You need to use that, cause temp. sender is not seating properly inside hole where it mounts.

Well, i did not use the quicksilver original temp sender, but a allround automotive one. I am not aware of the piece you are describing. What does it look like?
The gauge is a fairly cheap one, it off about 7 degrees. Checked if it worked in a pan with water and a digital gauge before installation

So you think the cooling water at that point in the engine should definitly reach 50 degrees? The water from the tell tail is always cold and it seems to me like the water is peeing true the tell tail has already going through the powerhead and exits before going in the exhaust
