I like the looks of the merc racing stuff , (cowls etc.) Very very few around me and dosent match everyone else's. Was that a trick question ? I'm little slow HAHA that's bout all I'm gonna answer. All I've used is ccms reeds and stock

No trick question. More curious than anything. I guess it's like Harley tattoo's … with a little less personal commitment … LOL
When I raced NHRA/IHRA and some outlaw stuff, if you had to have a certain decal to race .. It usually got stuck to a shirt or pants leg first. That way it came back off a lot easier .. Company's that dropped out of the contingency program, got the sticker pulled. The winning check on the spot was nothing compared to the check's that roll in for the next 60 days. In my case, that money was needed to stay out on the road.
I like the Merc colors too, I had my painter put the "hockey stick" on my boat to match the cowl .. other than that, I hung my helmet up .. and they don't send checks.

TDR offers reeds for ALL outboards and is offered in different thickness and weaves I’ve been running the TDR reeds on EVERY motor I’ve built for 25 years with zero issues ..
Josh I wish you would have brought those hour glassed shaped cages I could have cut them while you were here ...

What Mercs came stock with square reeds?

They went square when they went to rubber coated cages, so like 89 or 90 or something. They race cages with no rubber got squared off (7 petal), the optimax got square reeds (5 and 6 petal), and the carb/efi 2.0 & 2.5 got square (4 petal and 5 petal sportjet)
