    Mercury XRI System

Anyone have an opinion on the XRI system. Looking at it seems pretty simple and may work well.

Laser injects in front of reeds and crankcase is behind reeds. They are both EFI.

So I take it that Laser is another name for XRI?

It is. Kinda like the dif tween throttle body and TPI. Laser is wet reed and crankcase is dry reed. Both work very well if ya know what you're doing and have the diagnostic tools and corresponding ability. Carbs are usually much easier when trying to diagnose issues and require no special tools.

Great thanks. So I'm going to guess that XRI/Laser/wet reed injection requires fewer special tools than dry reed injection, or is it really about the same?

I would think they are about the same. There may be fewer parts on the crankcase system but they are so different it's hard to compare. You're trying to read the computer function either way.
