    Thumbs up A silver lining

Found a silver lining to this virus mess, for me anyway.
Got a rental car on Wed. because I needed transportation for 3 days in a row so when I went to pick up my rental they upgraded me to a Mustang convertible EcoBoost Premium. 2.3L turbo 4cyl. 305HP/350ft.lb. but it weighs 4200lbs. That's 800lbs more than my 89 Mustang GT but just as fast as my GT was when stock. Handles like a 3 series BMW I rode in in the 90's. Comfortable, great MPG and just a ball to drive. Has a 9 speaker stereo that is surprisingly loud.

Actually had a couple of ladies flirt with me when driving it, top down. That doesn't happen when driving my 95 Z71, for some reason.
They upgraded me because they have hardly anyone renting with the lockdown and I've been renting a bit since Dec. The guy at the rental counter told me the airport is only getting 3 flights a day right now and some planes are only carrying 5 passengers. Granted where I live isn't a big city, between 60-70K pop. and I think around 200K total including the surrounding cities and area. But the airport normally does more than 3 flights a day. http://www.flylakecharles.com/page/Economic-Impact

I have been enjoying this car. It even has a Track App menu in the car menu. Lets you do 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 60-0, 30-0, lap timer and a G-Meter. Oh it also has LINELOCK function.Lets you choose between normal, sport, sport+, race, drag strip and wet/snow driving modes. You can choose normal, firm or comfort steering too.
I can tell you this car does 0-60 in 6.2sec. and ran a 15.0@90mph 1/4. Bit of wheel spin off the line chirped the tire shifting to 2nd and 3rd. but is speed limited to 125. And you can drive one handed at 125. SMOOTH car.
But I gotta return it in the AM.

Every car I've rented since my truck was damaged from that guy pulling across the road illegally has been, Nissan Altima- nice car, Hyundai Hybrid-nice car but can feel the weight of the battery pack when changing lanes, Ford Fusion-nice car, Dodge Ram 1500-real nice truck, Hyundai small SUV- OK vehicle, but none of them made me want to just go out for a drive.
Wasn't sad to have to return any of them. I enjoyed driving them all but it kinda cured me of spending 10-15K on a used Charger R/T to replace my truck. I can say IF I was to come into some money I'd have to think hard to not go buy a new Stang.

No doubt I'd want the 5.0 too but it surprised me what this little 4cyl could do. I honestly could live with it being I'm 56 now and having a super fast car, while fun, isn't as big a thrill as it use to be. I'd enjoy the V8 for awhile but seeing I'm not really interested in going to the track much anymore I could live without it.

Not like I'm gonna actually be buying one anyway, just daydreaming. But it was fun for a few days to have a quick car. I enjoyed riding around with the top down as much as the HP.
