I had a 1971 Checkmate 15 footer but it didn't have the foam bunks and no back seat. We fit more junk in that trunk![/QUOTE]
Any chance you could post up a couple pics of the Checkmate??

this brings back some awesome memories! Just found the old photo album and took pics of pics. Sorry for the quality. I had an 18' Cobia Bowrider with a 115 Johnson that was a great weekend cruiser. I sold it and bought this. However, it didn't look like this then. It was bowling ball red metallic and gold/silver. In fact, when I took the boat of the trailer, the trailer broke in half (was rusted out). What a mess! So, this ended up being a few months of knuckle busting floor replacement, transom, new trailer, cables, gauges...etc. I painted it Imron Peterbilt red. That paint was tough. Painted my Jeep to match - but usually towed this with a FIERO GT. This was in like 1997. Good times. We wore the crap out of this boat. Took it in the ocean, lakes, rivers, creeks...and more. Use to knock off work early and hit the creek every week in the Summer in Jacksonville, FL.

When I first got it working, I didn't have the windshield figured out. But later did. I could never decide which way I liked it best. This Fiero was C4 Corvette Torch Red. It is a rebuilt wreck I bought cheap. Pulled the 2.8 and put a stroker in with a CRANE cam, roller rocker, hot chip, injectors, ported intake/heads, and stall converter. It pulled the boat like a dream. Yes, I also struggled to make use of the storage in the Fiero.

Yeah, best friend had a black Fiero GT, V-6 auto and my wife had an 85 Chrysler Laser XE 2.2 Turbo, auto, we used to race those down the highway entrance ramp side by side. Actually rolled the sidewall on those Eagle GTs.

Hard to believe this Covid-19 thing has shut down soooo much. But, the boat is still sitting there all cleaned up, new interior...and nowhere to go yet. We did order some of those bungie style pocket nets that I'm looking for a place to attach. Will let us put things in that can be wet and will dry out that way.
I'll get back on this to wrap up the storage ideas once my O-rings come in for the pump.
The boat is in the shop where I've been doing a lot of wood cutting for house repairs. It is COVERED in a layer of dust. I can't wait to get it out and blow it off...and get it wet again. Our Gov. has locked down most of the public access lakes to only TWO people in a boat at a time. We are usually a group of three when we go out. So silly. But, I've not been 100% ready to float yet anyway until I get this tilt/trim licked for good.
