Originally born and generally from Florida. Although, I lived all up and down the east coast. In Illinois because it pays the bills - but live here mostly in protest.

I tell people I live in the land of high taxes, corrupt politicians...and most our Governors eventually end up in prison. The guy we have now is a real jewel. Only time will tell when indictments fly on him.

Was telling my wife this weekend I really miss the water ways we had in N.E. Florida. Many different venues to enjoy the boats.

You would be money ahead living back in FL. not to mention the quality of life "which you can't put a price on". FL., TX, and AZ. are the land of opportunities with people moving inbound and forced economic growth because of it.

I don't disagree...but I'll submit this one thing. The Midwest (other than the lack of water variety like we had in Jacksonville, FL) is beautiful. We love the four distinct seasons. I live in a farm town - small school - wide open spaces. Traffic? What's that? We don't have any. I was in Jacksonville in January...YIKES! Bumper to bumper at 10 at night. It all came back to me. Yes, I love the economics - but for what I do for a living...I can't make the money I do make (and give away in taxes) in Florida. Catch 22 or whatever that means.

When my wife first bought this Viper we were living in the Winter Haven area of Florida - Chain of Lakes - think...Cypress Gardens. Lakes and lakes and lakes...but honestly, running the Black Creek in N.E. FL was way better including Potsburg and other creeks.

You were just North a little too far. Jax and St. Augustine are going crazy but come down the river to Palatka, Astor, Deland area and you can have the best of all. I do understand what you are saying as I lived in the midwest for all of my life aside from the last 16 years. I have close friends from Mattoon and they have stores all around you.

It takes me two hours on a plane or 20 in a truck to be back anytime I want, -mid-westerners are great people as a whole and I am very thankful to have been raised where work was work and play was play. I now spend a decent amount of time in Osage Beach MO. (LOTO) and its much of the same memories but its become a performance boating hub to make it an even better place to hang out. Get over there if you have a chance-you won't want to run your boat on a holiday or event weekend but there are many times that the lake is flat during the week and even on "normal weekends" if there is such a thing anymore. Rent a place (there are tons of them) for a week and your kids will talk about for the next 50 years.

Small world - Mattoon isn't that far from me. I took my son down to FL in December to witness a rocket launch at the Cape. I usually fly into Sanford - and once you head East from there it is pretty rural in some areas.

If all goes well, I can usually get home from work around 4 on weekdays. We've found it is the perfect time to grab the boat and head to the lake. Weekends (unless you get out early) are wild on Clinton lake - so much traffic. But, get out early - do some knee boarding...find a beach to nose it up and go hiking and or float around and have snack.

I don't understand why some of you are busting this guy over wanting to bring his family and friends in his Viper. I mean its his boat let him use it how he wants. So what if he wants to wakeboard and have his bimini up? Tough crowd.

Natives are likely restless with all this shelter inside covid 19 stuff. I know I'm about to go nuts myself. Got a boat all polished up...and NOWHERE to go! (okay - and it is a bit cold here still...but).

After post #1 the obvious answer was .. buy a bigger boat.
By post #6 if there was any confusion .. everyone had a visual to go along with the text.
Of course 69 played right along …

I will agree with Capt Insane-O that it’s easier in a bigger boat.

My space and rougher (read: not smooth) water needs were not being met with my V-King
