    Lower Unit Tools?

I need to take out the bearing carrier of a 2.5 lower. This one if for the rear carrier, but how do I remove the top carrier so I can pull the driveshaft out?

Have you gotten yourself a FACTORY service manual yet? If not, I highly recommend one. These detail everything about your lower. No substitute for a factory manual, bud. Good luck.

Yes I have a few manuals that should cover the fishing lowers, didn't think to check in there. Thanks

Very similar to other tool only much smaller. Made mine with a socket and a grinder.

Yes the link you posted with the tool will help to install the bearing carrier retainer ring back on. To take it off you will need a drill and chisel to break it into pieces since it’s probably locked on there pretty good. Then you will need some thick metal pieces to put between the prop and the hub to pull the bearing carrier out. Also don’t forget the shift shaft removal tool.

To pull the drive shaft out, you will need a similar tool from eBay too to take off the smaller retaining ring.

Last tool is the spline holder so you can tighten the driveshaft back on the pinion gear.

Those 4 tools should be around 120 total off ebay
