    Floor Question

have a 220 velocity cuddy cabin.. I don't ever use the cabin and the interior is getting pretty aged..I'm thinking about gutting it and closing it up..does the floor in the cabin act as a support? Or if i pull it up and add another bulkhead will that be enough? Thanks

Should not matter. The stringers are what provide the main backbone. Look at an empty cuddy in a Cigarette or Donzi and make yours look the same. The old velocities are cool. Outboard or V8?

Bulkhead prob. supports the deck structure. Not removable but could be "holed" for weight reduction. Floor could prob be removed to save weight.

I rebuilt mine and did what you are talking about. I have a bulkhead just in front of the dash and a second bulkhead mid-way up the deck. Stringers were replaced and go as far as the old floor used to go. I haven't driven the boat much as I only got it in the water towards the end of summer last year but it didn't seem to have any impact on its strength.

it is an outboard 3.0 250 efi with some reeds and basic stuff it’s a 2004 newer model so heavy compared to the old ones..I have been in other outboard boats with no cabin they fly so much easier and just feel so much more nimble

Yeah I have a few from the rebuild. I did a complete overhaul of the whole boat and gutted everything and rebuilt it the way I wanted it. In the first picture you can see how I have the 2 bulkheads, the first having a window so I could still access the front of the boat and get under the deck. The second picture shows how I made the bulkhead. I made it in a way so it was tied into everything so I cut and notched it around the stringers so the stringers are all one piece. Then the bulkhead could be fully fiberglass to the stringers, the hull of the boat, the floor, and all the deck. Seemed to be nice and strong the few times I had it out last year before the water got stiff.

awesome man thank you very much that is exactly what I was wanting to do...I feel much better about it now..I had fear of the hull caving in when I hit some chop at 70 lol

No worries at all and good luck. Like I said, haven't had much time in it yet because our season up here are short and I spent most of last summer rebulding it, but it would run through a 2' chop at 80 with ease and never was there any fear of sounds to suggest it was not strong enough for it. What year is your hull?

Yeah the whole boat was rebuilt with Okoume (transom, stringers, floor, and bulkhead). Lightweight and super strong.
