You drove my 21 Eliminator and I think you enjoyed it. And that was with a tired stock V8. I would go with a newer Liberator because they have more freeboard than the Eliminator (I think after 96 but Randy would know). Not a Lake Erie boat.

I enjoyed the **** out of driving your Eliminator Pat!
    Thx again for letting me.

Thx to everyone else for their thoughts too.

Funny too that an old friend from Wis called me today and spent a 1/2 hr telling me I need a 21’ Shadow vee bottom.
    I tend to believe him.

    Im a vee bottom guy.
The water I’ll be running in, would be better handled in a vee.

Also funny, almost an even split between tunnel and vee from you guys.

If we were still in Fla w/the miles of calm water, a tunnel would be tough to beat.

Im liking the thought of a 8 on the back of a vee on the pad, in chop, at 7k.

Talked to Doug w/the motor today and we’re very close.
Looking good but will decide tomorrow.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

My eight is going on the newer Velocity 22. Always thought it was a roomy 22 footer. Also like the porta potty for wife. Funny though, a year 2000 boat isn’t that new... it’s been a project that Click image for larger version.

Instigator, I talked to the people of the Legend 21 CC that Noli put up...$17,500 out the door for that hull, hatches, tank. A 400HP V8 would have that thing strolling nicely. It won't be a wave crusher though.

I know you said you were favoring the Vee hull type, but this is the rig I want to refurb, coincidentally with an OMC V8. I had a very good impression of this very hull back in the 80s with this V8. It ran 105 mph and played bigger than it's 23 ft. True tunnel as well with no hop.

I would go with a Velocity, Superboat, or Activator and possibly tie bar the transom if you can.
ActiveFun is 100% correct. I am currently putting a floor, stringers/knees, and transom into a 1987 Starflite. The transom assembly from the factory was really disappointing. Aside from the rot due to bad rigging, it has an embarrassing amount of bonding putty, too thin outer skin, and really bad knee design (as far as being up to supporting a V8). It guess it was sort of OK for the Merc V6s it was intended for. My upgraded transom is intended to accept one of my V8s if I wanted to, but the fuel tank is too small for it to be practical other than a sandbar boat.
