Does anyone torque the studs in the block, or do you just snug the studs, and torque the nuts?

Finger tight with grease. The resistance of the nylock nut will seat the stud with enough pressure to stay in place when you go to take the nut back off again, but not so much that the shoulder will dink the top thread ...

I red loctite the studs in the block and torque to 25 ft/lbs. The four short studs and threads in the block around the exhaust chest I clean with MEK thoroughly more so than the others because they are a complete ****er if the studs back out of the block. Also I thread the blind hole studs to bottom out in the bosses.
