1966 1100 Mercury help needed
Having to replace an already disturbed ignition system. Can anyone chime in on a dual point gap setting? I have a spec for the dwell of 90 degrees but no gap reference. She's very time consuming to access the points and adjust by the more accurate dwell....
Any assistance would be most helpful!

.018" will get ya real close if both sets of points open & close at the same time. If they are staggered for longer duration, .016" is good. Of course, point synchronization or stagger can be affected by mismatched gaps......I can't imagine setting dwell on that motor, have to disconnect a set of points to set the other.

Moparbarn,
Thank you for taking the time to post. I found that the correct procedure using a degree wheel and pointer. Just not sure why a gap in .000 isn't listed anywhere.
