Gentlemen,
I am looking for a bolt on and run spare 15" gearcase for my 1973-1975 150hp Merc inline 6's with a stock gear ratio. I would love to have a SSM, but I need a FNR shifting gearcase.
I had a 15" case built with a cut 20"driveshaft, shiftshaft and water water tube. This on the the boat now. Just want to have a spare.
I have 3 more good 20" inline gear cases I can convert. However, I would rather not do that right now. Plus my machinist/tech is backed up. Before I tear down a 20" case and build another 15", I hoping was hoping I could pickup spare. I also have another 15" inline Mid with Can, Tuner, Exhaust liner and swivel bracket that I may drop my 20" 1975 150 on for a complete spare engine
I own the 1973 Blue Vector that's on the S&F homepage showcase. I'm leaving it pretty much as it is other than converting the motor from a 20" to a 15". I had to do the typical core work and go thru all engine wiring, rigging etc while converting the 20" motor to a 15"shaft. The boat is in excellent shape for the age.
If anyone has experience in doing this type of gearcase conversion left me know. I can do the teardown but am still green on the reassembly. I am retired and can help facilitate to get things done. Boat is just about done. Lake is open won't be long now.
I have 3 115 line power heads and misc inline engine parts I will also be thinning out.
