14' work boat mold....
So we were contacted by a company that sprays aquatic weeds, their boats are 10yrs old and beat to ****. They priced them with the company that they got them from years ago, they would only sell a fully rigged boat to him. He only needs a stripped hull to mount a tank in and a clamp on motor. So he gave us a beat up hull and we went to work changing it a little to work better for their needs, and cleaning it up, it was real bad. Holes in the glass, foam exposed and waterlogged, a real mess. After it was as good as it was gonna get, we pulled a quick mold. The boat was real rough even after cleaning it up, so the mold isn't perfect, but a sanding and buffing will help. Its a work boat so it doesn't have to be perfect. It may even get polymer on it, they run them up on the banks. The construction went quick and came out real nice. Pics coming

Nicely done.
Looks like a Carolina Skiff.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Funny you ask. The work boat doesn't have anything in it but 1 seat. We have a couple molds from another skiff we have that will also work for this boat if need be. Little cutting to make it fit, but that's it. Also have a console mold that can go in it. If there was a front deck needed we'd have to make one. But it doesn't really need one. Maybe a very small anchor locker in the front, but that's it.

Really nice work as usual. Was there a reason this company didn’t just go with an aluminum Jon boat?

Not sure yet. I don't think it'll be wood. Coosa where the motor goes, it'll prob have big box stringers filled with foam. 6"tall. Not sure what the deck will be, core im sure, the hull will be filled with foam like the original. Owner required it to be as close to original as poss.

Spent the day sanding and buffing the mold. It's way better than it was. Not perfect but plenty good for a work boat. 6 coats of wax will help too.
