Motors run deep is for power ,like skiing ,tubing going slow ,as you raise motors there is a sweet spot you have to find it little at a time as merc 2.5 said start 3.5 below and go up 1/4 to 1/2 inch at a time watch water pressure and how boat handles the higher you raise motors you will need less positive trim

CCM should be able , or is it an extension coupler on the correct shaft? Maybe you're lucky

They are a cxxl left and a cxl right. So my right engine has an aftermarket 30” standard lower and a shift shaft extension where as my left engine is all original. I think they were part of a triple set, probably sold off the standard 25” engine easily then made twins out of the leftovers... why a set of triples would have two counter rotating vs 2 standard is beyond me but whatever.

Oh and to clarify for those who’ve asked, Yes I hung these myself. The boat came with twin 200s, 25” 2.5 liters. One was missing the power head, I sold the runner and got this set for 3500 bucks and re painted them myself.

As far as my shift shaft, tell me if I’m crazy here but what if I just remove the lower cowl, cut the top off with the angle grinder and let it fall out. When I’m done just slide a 2 piece shift shaft from a 2.5 liter up in its place... why not?

Well the only thing keeping the shift shaft from coming out the bottom is the fact that mercury just bends the shaft like an L where as the 2.5 has a splined arm on the top with a roll pin. Surely Im missing something here??

Start with the bottom of the hull centered in the intakes of the lowers and adjust from there.

As you go higher you will gain speed but that heavy boat will Blowout trying to plane, turn, rough water, or doing anything other then running straight and fast. Play around with it and find tour happy spot.

I may have a transducer in a bad spot now that you say it. Thanks for all the advice guys. Gonna have the shafts cut this Saturday. Water tubes and shift shafts are done and taken care of. Power heads never had to come off.

with all the boats weight so far rearward I would imagine I can get away with higher then lower. The main fuel tank starts from the console back. I currently lave a 250lb ballast bag in the anchor locker that I’ll be happy to get rid of, boat looked better floating without it but the porpoising was so hard to handle.

All done, figured I’d update the thread. Thanks for everyone’s input. Runs a lot better and my economy is up from averaging around .7 to averaging about 1.3 mpg.
