    Need a little help.

    Trying to find out what I have here / serial number but yet there’s only one welsh plug on the top of this motor with the # 6 on it. Any info will help thanks

    I'm saying it's a mid 80's 2.0 or 2.4. The 2 pc heads are the giveaway. But they are the later two-pc heads. 83-88 or so?
    1990 Shadow bass boat w/ 2.4 200 Merc. Totally resto'd boat and love it!

    Any idea on where the serial number would be? My other 2.4 200 has two plugs on top, one having the number. But this engine only has one.

    '80/'81 2.4 225.. first gen power head.. only place serial number was on those was tha clamp best I remember..

    Ya 80 81 2.4 225 , the 200 was a vertical reed motor then
    But looks like sumone stuck a 40 amp flywheel on it and should been a 9 amp I think

    200 those years were also horizontal only five petal (not many of those in '81/'82).. that one is a seven petal.. right on tha 40 amp chargin stuff..

    U sure the old 200 was horizontal? I would had put $ on it that old one were vertical, I'm not questioning u. I'm questioning me I rekon , not sure y the hell I'm thinkin that then

    maybe pre '80 were.. after '79 vertical 2.4 was 175 thru '88....

    Maybe its 79s but I did quick Google search and shows 79 80 2.4 200 with vertical , they were old post from here. Anyway. Carry on

    searched all over this engine, no serial number yet. pulling reeds to replace and pulling heads to be shaved here in the next day or so. Thanks for the help yall

    The part that's bolts to the boat has trim connected , should have a small metal tag(plate) with serial
