Lower unit behind prop , bout size of the case , kinda extends back of case which would allow more water to prop instead air
This is pretty much the jist of it. Someone prob has better explanation tho , o and. most blow out just above 80 with certain lowers, prop, bote combo and the ring helps.prop hold water. sry no pic

If you install a bolt on blowout ring you will have to run small hub props, or over hub props. Merc Choppers will need to have weed cutters removed. Generally won't see much gain until 95+mph. Newer cases have it cast into the housing and does not effect the fit of large hub props.

You can also get clip on blow out rings, they are mainly used for over hub props for the holeshot..
some props just dont bite fast enough and can be a pain on the holeshot with a over hub prop.
the blow out ring can help in this situation big time
this is a plastic one that just clips on.

I think they are omc/brp things.but you could easy get a metal one (alloy or stainless) made up that simply fits in and
has 2 screws from the outside to make sure it dont come off. the ring being held I think is one that racer on here was selling ( might be wrong)
but it give the idea.Last edited by phillnjack; 02-12-2020 at 08:13 PM.
