Sleekcraft sst advice for repower
I'm going to start off by clarifying I am fairly new to boating and bought my first boat last year. Sleekcraft sst with a 175hp carburated mercury bone stock, No jack plate, no hydraulic steering. Boat ran great last season but didn't have enough power for me. Trying to figure out what would be the best option to either repower or possibly modify what I have. Id like to do upper 80s if that's possible. ANY knowledge helps even being pointed to a good shop (I'm located in inland empire). Thank you for your help!

Assuming it is a 20' Sleek, a 300X/Sport master case or 300XS/Sport master case will do what you want. Hydraulic steering (preferably a side ram and wing plate combo) is highly recommended and hydraulic jack plate will make your experience more enjoyable. You should be able to cruise at 80 and run mid 90s.

Hey Joe, yes it is the 20.5. out of curiosity do you think it won't be to heavy for my boat? And by case are you talking about the lower unit or hole motor? Do you know if I have to do modifications to my fuel system? Appreciate your response!

I had a sleek. I would do a pro max 225 with a manual jackplate. Saves a bunch weight. And just see star pro steering. Be a great all around setup

A friend of mine had a 300XS with a sportmaster case and it ran a tick under 100 mph without him messing with a set up. He never cared to go any faster so we never changed anything nor did we chase propellers. It did ride low in the transom but all of them do. As for the fuel system, you don't need to modify it, the 300X or 300XS both have VST pumps on the motor with internal filters so you would just use your existing water separator between the motor and tank, and not need anything else.

That's great advice and much appreciated. By chance do you have any pictures with his sleekcraft and the 300? I'm curious to see what it looks like! Thanks

Have you made any power changes yet?
My experience with the 20 SST is that it doesn't make good use of a lot of power without bottom changes. Then it becomes a very good boat with any v6.
If you power up and get it to 90+ with the stock bottom it can blow over with little effort or warning.
