    Correct adapter plate for 260

I have a one piece plate on my boat currently and I can't tell if its the correct plate for a 260. I bought the motor a couple years ago with the plate already on the mid. the motor was a 2.4 200 but I'm switching to a 260. I've compared the plate to a friends 280 plate and they are pretty close but a little different. The biggest differences I've noticed is mine has a 1/2 water hole and the 280 has a 3/4. The 280 also has two plugs on each side and mine does not.

That plate is an early 2.5 plate and it will work fine for your 260. 1/2” watertube will also be fine.
The later plate came with the plugs on the sides, have thicker powerhead mounting flange, larger tuner mounting platform and 3/4” watertube. The 280 plate is oval exhaust ports on tuner side.
Those plugs on the side on the later plates were put there to tap in external water pickup.

I was looking at that also. I have hydraulic steering but I questioned the strength of it with the 260 on there. I have a bracket from a promax that has the fat or heavy duty tiller arm on it but it was originally a three ram clamp. Does the bracket fit the single ram or do I need to look for a new mid altogether?

clamp parts interchange is a weak point with me.. I do know that a tiller is clamp (production 3 ram or hi perf. single ram) specific.. and will NOT interchange one with tha other... me?.. i'd hafta find a hi perf. clamp/trim....

Shadow, tlwjkw is correct the tiller arms will not interchange. The 3 ram has a shoulder and the single ram does not. Hard to find a clean wide 20” HP tiller and if do do most times will not be cheap.

Thats what I figured. They did not look like they would interchange just by looking at them. I will have to keep my eyes out for a new mid

You do not need a complete mid but some times the complete mid is cheaper. You just need a single ram saddle bracket or just the tiller arm.
Put up a wanted ad looking for a HP wide 20” tiller arm with good splines.
BTW, you can sell your tiller arm as longs as is good to someone that will be using side steering.
