Crossing into Canada from US with a possible shaded record :)
Does anyone know how or who to contact to find out if a their record is clean so they can travel into Canada ?
This was an alcohol infraction well over 20 years ago
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.<> God is great , Beer is good , Boaters are crazy <>

Whatever the potential jail time you could have received times 2. So for instance, if you could have gotten 10 years and did absolutely no jail time, its 20 years. Dont ask me how I know, its a long story

BTW, If you pay them a fee, they will give you up to two weeks in the country. They interview you for the reason you need to go into the country, then if they feel like it, they determine the amount you need to pay.

Impaired in Canada is a criminal charge - there is a time limitation on offenses once you have been released - i would suspect 20 years - your clear but depends on the offence and your record now . I can tell you they ask what your up to in travelling and how long - as you move towards the kiosk they have ran the plates and are gathering background - if the discussion on prior offenses or have you been comes up you are allready been flagged inside in secondary and they will be asking further questions -you need a passport and i can not help much more than this due to the vague information given but understand its personal . If your infraction was just drunk driving or drunk and fighting and such but if you were charged with impaired and killed another charged with vehicular manslaughter and such well a good read on the website needs done but suspect if you have a good abstract and not a long rap sheet that continues to follow you to present - I would think your going to be easy peazy a welcome guest - Canada Border and Customs website is on line . Hope this helps

It wasn't in my case, 23year old dui conviction kept me out. I kinda wish you all had our southern border policies at that time. Thinking you all should put up a wall to keep us cut throat yankies out

wogi
where or how was it that kept you out after 23 years old
I've had two just slightly over the legal limit , both are over 30 years old and not one infraction since then.
I have called the CBSA their website wording for anything after 10 years is very vague
the one answer that was always consistent, its up to the crossing agent at the time of crossing<> God is great , Beer is good , Boaters are crazy <>

They can be tough on even old DUI's. Its up to the customs agent, but I've herd of 20 year DUI's getting an American denied entry.

Never tried bribing a customs agent in North America...………. Our customs agents in Canada can be dicks. I cross at least once per week.
