Possible to remove Merc shift shaft with powerhead on?

Just like the title says - Possible to remove shift shaft with powerhead on? Looks like there is a pin that is hard to get to. Possibly converting 25" to 20" and before you ask the mid is already 20", it had the lower unit spacer...

I have done it but it is a total pain in the ass and probably quicker to pull powerhead. You can leave everything hooked up just undo the ten nuts and the shift shaft connection. Raise motor till studs clear and swing powerhead out of the way.

Not really. If you take the intake off you might sneak it out. The water tube you can pull out.

    Yes 2.0-2.5L

So the water tube fits on top like it does into the lower unit?
