    300 Opti - Injector Troubleshooting ?

    Guys,

    I have an 08 300 optimax with 235 hours, it was running great and i got an alarm.
    Smartcraft says starboard injector not functioning properly.

    I pulled the plugs first and #1 is clearly darker than 3 and 5.

    Where should i start looking or testing first ? Fuel or air injector ?

    Can't you reference the ohm's from one to another fuel injector. And same for direct (air) injectors. Not a tech, so prob wrong...

    I was thinking something like this could be done before i take it in. Fortunately i have easy access to a dealer that can scan it but id like to at least try something first.

    Have it checked, with a cds first. It will tell hours & frequency of fault. You have too nice a motor to screw around, & mess something up.

    Hebert, click the link to my website below. If you scroll to the bottom you will find a download link for the 300XS Service Manual. That should be able to give you some troubleshooting steps, wiring diagrams etc. I agree with BillyBob though, probably a good idea to get a CDS hooked up. Injector resistances are below as well.

    Fuel Injector 1.8 ± 0.1 Ω
    Air Injector 1.3 ± 0.3 Ω

    Check the fault code first, but good time to have them(air & fuel) cleaned and tested!

    Iv'e had this service done twice on two different opti's. In my neck of the woods it was about (can't remember)$40 per injector to have flowed and cleaned. If you have a bad air injector hold on to your a$$, their pricey.
