See-Doo & Yamaha jet boats
I know someone that buys beater (need work, cheap) small Sea-Doo jet boats, He fixes and cleans them up for resale, well I was thinking about getting something to play with but I would rather have minimum of 18 ft but think a 20 would be a better choice with that said I hear to stay away from the Mercury powered ones because of lack of parts availability, I've read about supercharger issues with the Sea-Doo's I've was a Yamaha fan since the 70's snowmobiles and motorcycles, soo what is the best option? Don't care to spend a lot of money, so an older version with less know issues is my goal, can't tell you how many props I've dinged up, Had a few Yamaha waver-runners but the wife is not a fan, going out by my self got boring.

What is your budget if you dont mind me asking. I like the speedster 200s and they can be bought right with the twin 155 engines. Those motors are very reliable and it will still run at least 50. The only issue with the speedster 200s is that if your doing a lot of social boating you might want to look for something that has a windshield.

I found a cheap/needs love 18 for a good price, twin 2 strokes friend / mechanic said he knows them well, I have other boats, was thinking I just want a backwater toy nothing special right now just a carefree toy, lots of shallow water speed zones idle zone.
Down the road maybe get a bigger Yamaha that's going to cost a lot more from what I'm looking at.We have invented the world; WE see

My all-time favorite is the seadoo speedster 200 with the twin 215 hp 4-tec engines. The boat is I believe the sportiest one they made. I believe they would run close to 60 stock and closer to 70 with a full set of bolt-ons. They accelerated really well, were reliable, nimble, and looked nice too. The most common problems with the 215 4-tec engine was the supercharger clutch followed by broken exhaust valves. I think the supercharger issues were easily addressed by metal clutches but in a boat application the ceramics would probably never be an issue. I think the valve issue was addressed in the 2007 pwc’s; not sure about the boats. When I was in PWC’s, I always liked not having to worry about lower unit gears, clutches, seals, and water pumps...

It's tough to find one at a good price cheery.

If you go the older route - and find a seadoo speester in the mid to late 90s, they have the BULLET PROOF 720cc motors (twins in the speedster).
To rebuild them is SO cheap. For less than $1,000 you could rebuild the jet pumps with all new seals and bearings, new carbon seals, and if needed, a top-end kit.
Very cheap to rebuild those.1) 1995 14' Bayliner Restoration <--Click

My guys broke a water line by the time I got it fixed I text the owner and someone was there buying the nice 20 with no hours on it, kind of spoiled now, I like the idea of closed loop cooling system since It will be a salt water boat, the 98 fixer has those ratty 787 motors, if he will sell for 2,000 I'll buy, but I really want the newer 4 strokes.

The newer 4 stroke Ho/ Svho engines that Yamaha makes are very good engines, the svho can make close to 400hp easy and be very reliable. MY last ski had an svho and lots of bolt ons, over 350 hp and 85 mph.

I second that, TwzteD. I have an FZS now and have owned it since 2012. All it’s ever needed was gas, oil, one battery, and 2 plug changes.

I had a Yamaha HO and SHO
I liked the HO better because it was fiberglass vs molded plastic, the HO was lighter and better for the antics i was doing offshore wave jumping.
Like I said I've always had Yamaha's no problems either. We have invented the world; WE see
