Mercury 280 crank lower bearing

I purchased a lower bearing for the crankshaft and comparing the new one is a little different than the one that was removed. The number is the same. I am wondering if there is no issue in using the new one. Here are some pictures. Your feedback will be appreciated.

If "buck riveting" was the preferred method of construction a century ago, and though updated over the years .. and is still in use today. I would have to choose a bearing cage built the same way over polyamide / bakelite (plastic) any day ...

I have seen the plastic ones get soft and fall out.......then bearings bunch up on one side and fall out.

As Markus pointed out ... EXPLODER class bearings ...

Chaz=thinkin, if lube was a problem, Merc wouldn't use the lower bearing area as a sump to feed the top bearing .. and some models vacuum that pocket of excess oil and put it in # 6 ...
