    Making a 2lt Mercury from 2.4lt parts

    Hi All,

I recently acquired approx. 7 engine blocks and looking to put together a nice 2lt from them.

Starting with a SST120 block, I was them looking to add crank & Rods from a V200 2.4 lt and front half from a 220 hp 2.4

Will this work or am I dreaming. Would love some feedback on what others have done.

Well at least I thought it was an SST120, After looking at the block number which is 884-816577-C, I cant find a match anywhere the closest I found was 884-816577 A16 which belongs to the Mercury Racing Formula I (2 Liter EFI) maybe the C is for carby ??? I have posted some pic`s of any numbers I could find on the block. It has the dual exhaust ports, I will post more pic`s tomorrow

its at least a '91 (fat block) or later.. tha "only 2.4" crank that will work will be from a "high performance 2.4" motor.. ie: Bridgeport and/or oval port.. crank has ta have shouldered center mains.. it uses large od plastic case center mains.. if front half has no provisions for injectors it will be a carb block...

if its 2.0 with "bridges" should be an F1 block...

I don't think the 2.4 front will work. It's got dowel pins on the heads it's a newer style block with bigger center mains
