    I never was a big believer of the hammer test but I'm no expert. My boat has core from the transom all the way to and past that little door in the bow. Core was just as wet in the bow as it was under the gas tank.

    Is that a 5" bolt on extension on the mid?

    It wicks through the hull, even up the transom wood my 2 cents

    I did some drill tests over the weekend and looks like the transom and most of the core are good thick glass with mat and nice white dry wood on my drill bit. The core over the pad on the other hand its thin resin and core is wet

    I didn't understand what you were saying until I looked at it again yesterday, certainly looks like a bolt on section to me... never knew that was a thing. Can it simply be removed?

    It can be removed but you will need a shorter drive shaft. Probably be cheaper to find a different gear case?

    Depending if it has driveshaft and shift shaft extensions. Pull the lower off and look. Probably needs an impeller anyway
