Motor replacement?

Blew up 1990 evenrude225 still runs but rod knocked golf ball size hole in block. put 81 johnson 150 not lot of top speed 72 with 26 pitch big ear chopper. have an 85 johnson 140 thinking bout installing but dont know bout speed. Might just buy used merc 200. Any thoughts? Boat is a 1984 skeeter wrangler120hp 15ft 800lbs not most stable hull they but fast, made concave speed pad flat (fixed porposing problem and got more 6mph on top) dont know maybe boat too light to run v-6’s or what any suggestions? Running 9in plate low water shaft even w pad. Or get better boat?

A stock 200 would be plenty. All I have about now is a 05 xr6 that I probably shouldn't sell due to the fact it's probably the nicest running motor Ive ever had.

I think u can rebuild a new motor (2.5 200) for bout same cost as a used one. And can do the mods that work for you
