    99 ProMax cowling repair

I have a 99 ProMax that looks like the previous owner back it into a dock. The back is cracked and there is one crack in the side. The pan is fine. Anyone have a suggestion for what to use to fix and fair a damaged cowling? I hear that polyester resin won't bond, but no one around here has another suggested method.

Is there any parts missing? Or is it only cracks?.
If just cracks what about putting 3m 5200 on it from the inside?

I am not sure of the other products but Fusor mentioned by Euroski is on the money and can be picked up from a local bodyshop easilly or body supply . Your local body guy would be my first since a full tube is far more than you need and a specific caulking gun is used for lack of better terminoloy. Basically the product comes in a 8 inch tube both products separate from each . And gun depresses equal amounts and the replaceable tip winds them together - dispensed in a mix uniformly by the time it exits . You can just drop by a body shop - tell them what you need and usually there will be a partial tube and you can dispense with pushing each tube independantly - equal amounts and quickly mix yourself with a popsickle stick and just use a syringe - " large " to dispense well into crack and a nice bead on the inside . Wipe the exterior with alcohol or gas to remove on the outside . It would work even better if a piece of plexi was used on the inside on the crack and clamped . We are putting panels and patches on with these products and is superior to welding - due to the crystalizing of using a torch of the effected area . These epoxy products are used in new vehicle construction at the factory so it' not a hokey fix . You dont need much and a nice little patch clamped with the product will be the answer and cheap done right.

It' always tough to try and guide a person without seeing the whole problem , yes it can fill depressions and sand out to feather but Body fill is easier to work with . Remember you must have a clean surface , scuffed up for adhesion . So remove all 2 stroke oil and wax . These cowls are a tad wavy in areas from factory . But yes it will work . We are using it for attaching rockers , quarters and such as the factory is and use Body fill afterwards to fill any voids and primer 2 part on top of that . If the cowl is black as factory was and your spraying the complete cowl - use a 2 part primer tinted black where you use primer - you don' have to prime the complete cowl just the areas you worked on . Then if scratched at a later time - they don' show up as visible as grey or tan . Hope this all helps . Send me a pm if you need and I will forward my number . Your local body guy is hopefully a big help , you won' need much Fusor likely and there' always tubes around - you won' need the tips or gun .

This been a huge help. I have a great glass guy that does our work but he was unfamiliar with this material. I have attached a few pictures of the damage that may help clarify it.
    Thanks again!

That' a tough looking cowl - fix the cracks with Fusor -and the body fill will be used on the depressions - Another cowl is a thought . But I'm sure they are pricey .

My 300xs had a 6 inch cut in the top when I backed into the garage and the opener connector between door and track ripped it open. Back the inside up with the mesh first before filling the outside. Once dry sands just like bondo. There should be how to videos on the site or google.

Here's a photo of my repair and I'm not a body man, other than women!

    found this
    https://www.youtube.com/user/LORDCorporation1924/videos

    and

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkZ-iwLItOg

I can get the product numbers I used if needed. But any body shop should be using the products for newer vehicles.
