Kevin (baja200merc) is your man. He does all kinds of adapting sport masters to OMC stuff.

    If someone can explain exactly..

    Not positive I forget exactly..but
    Some make adapters ..
Or weld in slugs and drill them for omc bolt pattern.
Then make custom mounts/cable etc for the shifter
    And then the driveshaft..
    And water pump

Monty just pined my OMC lower it stayed together on a 100 mph lake boat.

I would talk to him about your needs, might be able to save you some coin, Monty is not a bull chitter.

A pic of mine , no adapter needed for this one, you also have to have a diff shift shaft seal housing to clear the mid i also have an omc water pump housing with a merc impeller on the inside

The 3.0 Sporty is close to a bolt up, the 2.5 is not.

The 2.5 water pump will fit w/o modification, the 3.0 will not.

The OMC shift rod is raised/lowered to change gears the Merc Rotates.
Also need to mod the cooling tubes.

Ive done a couple of the 2.5’s.

Will be calling to find out exactly best way etc..
I'd rather do it myself if possible..
But also know when not to...
I knew that there were a couple different ways knew one I was not going to be able to do.
I had links and pics if all of it but lost them some how.

    Thanks Gary

Kevin is your man. He has put the time in to figure out what works and is trouble free. Probably have 200hrs or more with a sporty under an omc moded by him.
