I pulled a heavy 19’ jet boat with a v-8 jeep cj5. I was young and didn’t have much sense or experience and my towing was on flat ground. I still have the jeep but I now tow with a 6.2 max tow gmc. The jeep is now used as a hunting rig. It now has 5.13 lockers,3.15 transfer case gears, and 40” rice and cane BKT tires. It still heads to the water. It just runs through swamps of SE Arkansas. You just can’t have too many toys.

I sure hope they don't get that stigma to stick to Chryslers product line. Jeep is the division saving their them and there is a massive owners group that is very active (we now have jeep beach week here in Daytona Beach) and its big deal. The Cherokee line is also doing very well with women in the mid size suv upper price segment.

There is no way you can use the rainbow in any sort of advertising at this point without creating an implied stigma. Some people don't even like to eat these "rainbow trout" anymore for fear of affiliation...Click image for larger version.

I tow my Grand Sport no problem with my 2 door. Rated to only 2000lbs but i upped that with heavier suspension and aftermarket class c tow hitch. Works like its not even there. The 2 and 4 doors have almost 300 hp and loads of torque. 4 doors are rated for heavier because they are heavier. But 2 doors have a way way better power to weight. Tow capacity is a suggestion from the manufacture not law. You can mod your tow vehicle to tow what ever you want.Click image for larger version.

Towed my Seebold 25' for several years with a Toyota Extra Cab 4x4 SR5, R22 4cyl. My only comment is that 5th gear was useless, but in 4th she would hold 70mph for miles. And I never found a ramp I couldn't get up. I did keep the trailer brakes in good working order and always kept an eye out ahead.

I have followed the thread and you have heard from a good mix of people and I believe the thought was not a great tow vehicle for a boat unless it' small and the distance is short to the ramp . My experience was similar and I towed with a 2 door and it was marginal not from the pulling but it one day pushed me into a intersection on wet pavement . So if the trailer has no brakes - i found the vehicle just didn' have the weight on that marginal pull and stop . It was a 19 ft small inboard 2000 lbs. It' sketchy if your wondering is all . So be advised . They are just a great little vehicle though .

    ^^

Yup - it will work with a light tow package but it’s marginal - so many better options.

I laugh at all these little dingbats and their jeeps every time I have to stop roadside with one...I've heard everything and seen everything with these things, not sure who's more retarded...the people who buy jeeps or the people that sell them under the illusion that they can haul anything but groceries...Just plain old junk....anyone who enjoys getting where they want to go has a merc on the back and a Ford towing the rig

I've towed a 22 Liberator with my 2019 Sahara. No issue, but windy days on the interstate is a little sketchy
