I sent them a bunch of pictures of the boat and they still insured it... I may have problems down the road but who knows. I have to think it would be hard for them to say it isnt covered after reviewing 14 pictures of the boat before they insured it.... hopefully i will never find out ...

Unfortunately, most high performance boating accidents are catastrophic. The owner/driver will face enormous litigation and the $500,000 liability limit of your policy will be woefully insufficient. Drive carefully!

Trust me if you have a big liability claim they will get off risk....the pictures went to the agent not the company so you will be stuck trying to sue him later......

I put insurance on my STV today, did it through my local State Farm agent, same one my home and truck are done with. It's just over $600 a year. The fact it's a "200" hp engine (ff block) even on an STV "SKI" boat brought it down she said. She told me that 200 is the threshold on outboards that prices go up after that.

That is the exact same reply that I got with my Allison GS with 200hp with State Farm. Had it that way for 15+ years. Mine was only $329.00 a year.

I hope you never have a claim, Every State Farm agent I've talked to in the last 3 years has said State Farm does not insure air entrapment boats, period! Or any boat capable of 95+ mph and then only if the are bass boats. "regular" boats cannot exceed 65 mph. Maybe that's a Florida thing or maybe you agent is playing fast and loose with the underwriters.

That's because it's a bass boat, air entrapment boats are uninsurable with the main line carriers.

Same story in TX with Progressive, regular bots 65 mph cap, 90 mph cap for bass boats. One of the reasons I run a Varmint instead of a Vector or Viper; I can insure it!

They never asked me how fast it was, the title says "pro comp ski" and it has a 200hp engine on it so that checks their boxes I guess. They have pictures of it now and haven't said anything. The 200hp thing may be what they gauge as the 90mph cap for power? who knows. I'm in Texas also, Fort Worth.

They asked me the size of my engine. I said it was a merc 2.5, they were happy with that answer i guess.

As long as you were straight with them you shouldn’t have a problem. I’m just jaded because here in FL the underwriters have gotten seriously aggressive. I’ve called national agencies and when I mention Florida they almost hang up, it’s bad down here for performance boats.

I was looking over the binder, and I think part of it might be because she listed it as a "runabout"...

You guys are playing with fire. Your insurance broker isn't representing the product properly and you will get burnt when claim time comes.
